ROB THE MOB - JOHN GOTTI SENTENCING

 Subscribe in a reader

Our story takes place against the fourth trial of John Gotti, the Gambino family crime boss.  After three high-profile trials in the 1980s ended in acquittals, Gotti had earned the nickname “Teflon Don,” (cause nothing stuck!) along with “Dapper Don,” for flouting the Mafia convention of staying quiet and being a visible, charismatic and sartorially-minded New York presence.

However, twenty one years ago today, on April 2, 1992, Gotti was convicted of 5 murders, along with a wheelbarrow of other charges, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.  Watch how people from his neighborhood responded to the sentencing -
